The beginning of the season was mostly so-so for me, and it only picked up in the second half of the season when the writers finally focused more on the Cas storyline. While it might have been due to cost (I imagine that trying to write eps on Heaven and Hell and angels with their wings and other special effects on a CW budget is probably pretty expensive), I'm sure that they could have somehow been creative enough to figure out a way to write more Heaven storyline.
very true and very true. i understand it might have been prohibitive, but like you say, look what happened with Hell. they did an AWESOME job of it and -- idk.
His actions where the ones that caused everything else to happen from soulless!Sam to weird ass monsters.
they did indirect all season. how did Rufus die? a slug monster who was sent by the Big Bad...were you scared of the BB? nope, you were just pissed that they used a fucking slug monster to kill Rufus. he should have died --if he did-- in a blaze of glory. the evil felt derivative or whatever, but didn't create tension.
so much of the season felt OT whether it was or not. *sighs*
