Books I've read (for pleasure) in the past year more of less:

let it be known this is just my opinion blah blah blah i'm very picky blah blah blah sometimes i'll change my mind the more i think about a book and often i'll like it less and less blah blah blah.

The Mismeasure of Man
Jane Eyre
Push
The Hunger Games (the first one)

Catching Fire (i started liking the series less and less with each new installment)

Havemercy (Fandom authors)
Shadowmagic
Liquor: A Novel (relevant to slashy interests)
Gone with the Wind (compellingly readable)

YUCK:
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (zzzzzzzzzzzz)

The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks
Wes & Toren
Silver Phoenix (this one moved from the like pile, to the meh pile, to the yuck pile)
Zero at the Bone
Dead until Dark
Mockingjay

I get a ridiculous amount of geeky joy from this list! And I've only read a few of these. (Also, it's quite an impressive quantity of books, dude) <3 <3 <3

lovely Hamletina icon you've got there. <3

you should make your own list, only i'm sure you'll be like, loads nicer than i am and not mention all the books on your yuck or meh list.

it's an okay list, but they're mostly easy reads. it's not like I've been reading Proust or something. well, there are a few in there that were efforts, but most of the effort came from pushing through the books i didn't like.

I am actually way, way easy to please. I'm almost never critical, which is... weird. My mother always jokes that I say everything is "amazing!", probably true! (clearly, the "critical" part of my Critical & Creative Writing degree is sorely wasted)

no, i totally admire that way of being. my mother is the same way, a total squeer, that's what makes her so much fun. i'm more of a crabbypants kind of person, but nobody takes me seriously as they shouldn't. ;D

crabbypants = rather cute, jsyk

:) I'm quite glad someone who is obviously as intelligent as you has read The Hunger Games.

I think I rebelled against my family's natural pessimism, which turned me into an eternal optimist :)
