After Heaven and Hell (Comes the Carousel) [Meg/Anna, PG-13] bybree_black
Summary: Not only did that idiot angel kill Meg, he also tore a hole in Purgatory, and since she doesn’t exactly have anything better to do at the moment, Meg decides to repair it. It’s a long trip across Purgatory, and when she arrives at the home stretch Meg is less than thrilled to find a goody-two-shoes angel on pretty much the same mission.
This layer of Purgatory is home to the souls of all the dead children who couldn’t get into Heaven, which says a little something about the kind of kids they are. To reach their final destination Meg and Anna must navigate an abandoned, booby-trapped amusement park designed to terrify them. Though a first they decide it’s every woman for herself, they soon realize they’ll need to work together to survive.
♥ I liked it. A lot. Probably because Meg felt very Dean here. Don't believe me? Psh.
The next thing Meg feels after that is someone’s mouth on hers, which is a significantly more enjoyable sensation. Like any self-respecting demon, her first instinct when she feels someone kissing her is to kiss back, and dirty. Meg opens her mouth under the kiss, pushing her tongue forward into her partner's mouth, reaching up to wrap her arms around their neck, her fingers tangling in long, soft hair.
“Mmmhph,” whoever she's kissing says, pulling back, but Meg doesn't give up that easy, and hey, this feels kind of nice. The other person relaxes into the kiss for a moment, mouth opening under hers, and Meg catches a taste of pure sugar on their tongue. She pushes forward, hoping for more, sitting up on her elbows. Then someone slaps her across the face.
"Ow," Meg says, shaking her head to clear it. "Did you just fucking slap me?"
"Yes," Anna admits, already stumbling to her feet and taking two quick steps back, like Meg has cooties or something. "I figured that might snap you out of it. It always works in the movies."
Meg blinks angrily, and climbs to her own feet. "Well I don't know what your problem is. Why kiss someone if you don't want them to kiss you back?"

Turns out, the whole near-Apocalypse thing thinned the veil between our world and the world in which the faeries banished an ancient, terrible, and bloodthirsty race of beasts: Unicorns.
♥ Aggy Bird is Aggy Bird and Aggy Bird's fics are Aggy Bird's fics, meaning that you'll always get sexy, funny, adorable and unexpected from her. Only Aggy could make Unicorns scary and pull it off-- only Aggy would turn an ugly really annoying monster into one of the most sympathetic charming characters ever-- without ever losing their annoying monsterness. ;D I did think the sexy ending was a bit pasted on yay, but that's nothing next to how much fun I had with this fic.
Hearthstone [Jared/Jensen, R, 43K] by
Summary: Jensen lives alone in the small town where he grew up, dividing his time between the bookstore he runs (with no customers), the bar he half-owns (but doesn't run) and the big, expensive dream house (that he bought with money he doesn't know what to do with). He lives quietly at the edge of the circle of friends he went to school with, and avoids everybody else -- until the new guy in town crashes a bike in front of Jensen's store and wedges himself into Jensen's world.
♥ Sometimes when people break up during fics it feels a bit like creating drama for creating drama. o.O here, it felt real. the love felt real, the hurt felt real, the backstory felt real-- and on top that? BAAAAAKING!
This Song Will Guide You Home [Sam/Draco, NC-17, 5K] by
Summary: Castiel knows a way to get Sam out of hell - but he needs Dean's help.
♥ I'm not a big fan of PWP's, and the excuse to have sex here was kind of transparent, but I loved the way the author made the Cas' and Dean's profound bond an important plot point and acknowledged Sam as Dean's soulmate. I hate it when fics underestimate the importance of being Sam in Dean's life, but this fic didn't and yet at the same time didn't make the Cas/Dean pairing feel secondary.
Old Country [Dean/Sam, R, about 3 1/2 hours] written by
Summary: Sam and Dean go to Hogwarts. Spoilers for Deathly Hallows and All Hell Breaks Loose. (Prompted by the following assertion: Dean is a Hufflepuff who thinks he's a Gryffindor. Sam is a Slytherin who thinks he's a Ravenclaw: Discuss.)
♥ I didn't realize how Gen the fic felt until it was Wincest and yet -SOMEHOW-- don't ask me how, it wasn't jarring-- probably because even in the Gen version of the Winchesters there's so much need and passion.
Crossovers are way, way, way difficult. If you don't think they are, you're either lucky, not picky or you've never written one. I haven't written a fic-thing in my life, but I haven't been lucky because I've read a whole bunch of X-overs that SUCKED. not that they weren't well-written, but that the ensemble overwhelms the story to such a degree that the characters start feeling like props, superficial versions of themselves.
Here everyone felt incredibly rich and 3-d to me, and Sam and Dean in the HP was a surprisingly seemless transition, probably because the author is so knowing and immersed in both world's that she could see the SPN aspect of HP and the HP aspects of SPN --which go beyond the whole wizards and witches and magic thing. she writes a gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous Dean and a beautifully tragic Sam.
(ETA: pandarus has a lovely, lovely reading voice <333333 she can read ALL THE FICS as far as I'm concerned <3)
The Incestuous Courtship of the Antichrist's Bride [Sam/Dean, nc-17, 48,000 words, crack-horror] by
Summary: Sam is trying to become the Antichrist in order to save the world. He has a small army of angels and demons, he has an adoring cult, he has a work of prophecy by Jack Kerouac, and he has Dean. Things are going pretty well until he accidentally signs Dean up as his Beloved Consort, a role that requires sex with the Antichrist on an altar. And that's when things stop going pretty well. Also, the soundtrack to the Apocalypse sucks.
♥ This story came with so much hype, I thought that I would be at least a little disappointed. I totally wasn't. This was like a badfic written well, meaning, it had all the delicious aspects that can make a badfic compelling, but written so excellently and hilariously that it was a treat. Loved this fic. LOVED IT. rated: ALL the stars.

♥ It was cute, but the only way I could enjoy this was by thinking that Zachary was this other Zachary that I didn't know about because her Zach and my Zach are two different Zach's. in fact, her Zach? 6 feet and four inches tall, while my Zach is 6 feet 1 inch tall-- and loving J2 has made me aware of how different those two measurements are. so, adoracute, but not really my cuppa.
Disturbing the Peace [Harvey/Mike, NC-17, 3K] by
Summary: Harvey has a new strategy for dealing with this thing that isn’t really a thing, because it’s not like it’s planned or regular or something he’s attached to in any way (though he has to admit that this can’t happen again is a resolution that hasn’t exactly held): just don’t talk about it.
♥ Cute and funny. I love when cynical characters fuck and trip their way into love.
Planet Sherlock [Sherlock/John, NC-17, 6K] by
Summary: John and Sherlock devise a rating system for their sexual encounters.
♥ I like crack and humor, but sometimes I find it kind of heartless. Like, humor is a superficial deflection of feeling rather than an expression of feeling within all the other feelings. With this fic, the humor only added to how charming the whole thing was without robbing us of the genuine affection we see on screen btw Sherlock and John.
